Crane scales, or sometimes as they are called hanging scales, work differently than ordinary scales. Instead of putting a load on a weighing pan or a platform, the load is suspended using the crane scale’s hook. The scale itself can hang from machinery, hooks and other apparatuses.
Crane scales or hanging scales are used in many applications from being suspended from large gantry cranes to applications in industries as diverse as fishing to fruit weighing.
The health and safety risks of overloading a crane scale make two things critical. Firstly, a large bright display which can be seen from a distance and the secondly is a high safety overload percentage.
