Africa produces approximately 7% of the worlds annual sugar production of around 175 mt.

India and Brazil are producing approximately 40% of total global supply and Africa production of roughly 10 million metric tonnes which approximates that of China.

The largest sugar producer in Africa is South Africa at 2.3mt, with other critical African producers being Nigeria, Swaziland, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia with one of the world’s most extensive sugar processing facilities being the Al Khaleej sugar plant located in the EUA.
